We don’t give our children allowances (they are expected to contribute to the family by helping cheerfully with every day chores), but they do earn money by doing extra jobs. We encourage them not to spend their money much, but to save it. Mark and I agreed that they have worked really well lately and deserved a treat. We decided to take them to a really nice children’s store nearby and use their money to buy something if they wanted to (encouraging them to set a spending limit before we got there). Everyone had a great time going through the store shopping and they all stayed within or well below their own set limits! Yay!! We took them for a second treat, which was a seasonal McDonald’s favorite… shamrock shakes. (Going to eat is seldom treat for us!!) It was a good evening out for everyone!!!
